Hand colored etching

Gail Jacobson ( -2015) was born and raised in Oklahoma and earned her BA and MS degrees in physiology at Mt. Holyoke College. She then moved to Cornell University where she met her future husband, Ralph. Together, in four years, they produced two doctorate degrees in Biochemistry and two children. They spent two years in Pasadena at Cal Tech. Then they moved to Norman, Oklahoma, where Gail taught nutrition at OU, did research at the Medical School, and had another child. In 1975, the family moved to San Luis Obispo to teach chemistry at Cal Poly.

Gail retired from teaching in 1992 and turned herself into an artist, studying at Cuesta College and specializing in etching and printing—often whimsical prints of animals and fantasy subjects.
