On Saturday, August 9 2025, members of the public enjoyed a hands-on printmaking and collage workshop led by artist Deanna Barahona, whose exhibition Stars Love Being Alone is currently on view in the Nybak Gallery. Inspired by the works in her exhibition, workshop participants exchanged personal imagery to create one-of-a-kind prints that blend storytelling and visual memory.
Before the session, each participant sent in 1–3 images: photos, drawings, scanned objects, anything meaningful. The artist prepared the printing screens of the participants’ images in her studio prior to the workshop. During the session, the screens were passed around, giving everyone a chance to print not just their own imagery but pieces of each other’s stories.
Alongside artist Deanna Barahona, participants spent time printing, cutting, layering, and experimenting. As a group, everyone also played with color, mixing inks, sharing palettes, and exploring how different combinations affect the mood and layering of each piece. The process was collaborative, playful, and offers space for gathering and storytelling.
