When the State of California curtailed art instruction in the public schools, Gini Allen Griffin played a key role in organizing children’s art classes at the Art Center, as it was known from 1967 to 2011. This painting represents a type of figurative painting done during the 1980s. Gini Allen Griffin is known for her paintings, murals, and ceramics. She is also noted for her contributions as an instructor, a curator, restoration artist, founding director of Young Artists Program at the San Luis Obispo Art Center 1983-1990. She has also been the Art Association’s past president, vice president, and very active in the present San Luis Obispo County Arts Council and one of its Grants Recipients.

The artist donated this painting to the Permanent Collection.
