Dorothy Cutter lives in Morro Bay, California. She studied at the Maryland Art Institute, Corcoran Museum School, American University and the California College of Arts and Crafts. She considers her mentors Sabro Hasegawa, Gordon Onslow-Ford, Richard Diebenkorn and Arne Nybak.
She was a prolific painter before she gave up painting for photography, selling more than 1,200 paintings during her career. She has been in too many exhibits to list here and received numerous awards for both her paintings and photography.
Donated by Dixie A. Cliff to the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art’s Permanent Collection in 2012.
Ms. Cliff purchased the painting from the artist in the 1980s.
