Frida Kahlo and Judy Chicago at the de Young Museum

Nickolas Muray, "Frida in Blue Dress, New York City," 1939

June 13, 2020

Enjoy a day roaming the de Young Museum in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park. In addition to the museum’s extensive collection, travelers will have the opportunity to tour Frida Kahlo: Appearances Can Be Deceiving, showcasing a veritable treasure trove of the artist’s highly personal items—including jewelry, clothing, and prosthetics—that were locked away in the artist’s home following her death in 1954 and uncovered 50 years later.

Also on view is Judy Chicago: A Retrospective, celebrating the pioneering feminist artist with artworks spanning from her early engagement with the Californian Light and Space Movement in the 1960s to her current body of work, a searing investigation of mortality and environmental devastation, begun in 2015.

Saturday, June 13, 2020. Registration $135 SLOMA members, $150 general includes round trip transportation on an ADA-accessible motorcoach, and museum admission. Convenient pickups in South County, SLO, and Paso Robles. Sign up online or call SLOMA at (805) 543-8562.
