On October 24, 2024, SLOMA and The Penny in downtown SLO welcomed The Window‘s artist Whitney Bedford for an artist talk.

Bedford’s early paintings consisted of shipwrecks, icebergs, rainforests, lightning strikes, and fireworks in works that represented the natural world. References to works by artists such as John Constable, Theodore Gericault, Pierre Bonnard, Paul Gauguin, Milton Avery, and Charles Burchfield are the foundations of the paintings she makes, which portray the deteriorating natural world in which we live.

For her exhibition at SLOMA, she debuted a brand new large-scale painting, which will be in conversation with paintings loaned from her California-based collectors and works on paper.

This was a special offsite artist’s talk at The Penny at 664 Marsh Street in downtown SLO. Videography by Ditty TV.

"The Window" is sponsored by Lindsey Harn Group and Christie's International Real Estate: Sereno. Additional support by KSBY, David Richards, and Hotel SLO.
