On July 3, 2026, SLOMA invited members of the public for a guided tour of our newest Nybak Gallery exhibition, Marcie Begleiter: Chimera: The Future of Nature. Held in connection with SLOMA’s First Fridays program and SLO County Arts’ Art After Dark, admission was free thanks to the support of our members and donors. Co-hosted by SLOMA’s Chief Curator, Emma Saperstein.

Chimera: The Future of Nature is a series of films, photographs, and sculptures by Central Coast artist Marcie Begleiter. The work explores the ways that climate change is reshaping the natural world. The exhibition is on view in SLOMA’s Nybak Gallery July 3 – October 17, 2026.
About the Artist
Marcie Begleiter is a California-based artist and filmmaker whose interdisciplinary career bridges visual art, experimental cinema, and documentary film. Her work is characterized by a deep engagement with ecology, the sixth extinction, and the collaboration of other artists and scientists.
