Adopted by:

From 1985—1986, Bob Nichols was commissioned to create a ceramic corner installation by the Mission Plaza doors of the then San Luis Obispo Art Center. In order to make the large corner piece Mr. Nichols cut the clay design in squares and fired the individual squares, then reassembled the “mosaic” to portray the Morro Bay estuary flora and fauna. The public art commission was donated by the Ed Jorgensen family and commemorates the memory of Maggie Jorgensen, a charter member of the organization, talented amateur painter, and community arts advocate.

Bob Nichols was an instructor of ceramics and sculpture at Allan Hancock College in Santa Maria, California for many years.
