This spring, establish (or dust off) your drawing skills with two introductory classes at SLOMA. Both classes will be led by Lury Norris, a professional teaching artist and coordinator for SLOMA’s Wednesday morning drop-in Life Drawing sessions.
Truly Beginning Drawing (Mar 9 & 10)
Have you always wanted to draw, but felt like you couldn’t draw a straight line? Then this is the class for you! You will learn, step by step, how to tap into your natural ability to see and use visual strategies like an artist, enabling you to really “draw it like you see it.”
Life Drawing Basics (Apr 13 & 14)
In this workshop, students will be introduced to several different techniques for depicting the human body in their own style using dry media. Working in studio and with a live model, students will learn model etiquette for artists, how to approach drawing from a model, how to handle longer and shorter poses, and any other questions that may arise.
Learning to draw is the foundation for all the visual art forms. These drawing classes will help you to learn how to see and then translate what you see with line, value, texture, proportion, and composition.
