The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art offers many opportunities for interactive and engaging youth arts education. All youth art activities are free and open to the public.

Youth Art Camps

SLOMA Art Camps

Please note that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all 2020 youth art camps have been canceled. But that doesn’t mean your young artist can’t get creative! Click here for weekly art activity prompts for kids of all ages.

From 9 AM to Noon the children 5 to 12 years old (grouped by ages) attend two classes each morning from two different teachers. All lessons are process oriented and teach art fundamentals.

Teenagers attend from 1 to 4 PM and learn to create in a small process oriented classes designed to encourage individual expression and understanding of specific processes.

BRAINS-ON: The San Luis Obispo Museum of Art teaches children aged 7 to 12 years on Tuesday afternoons at the Museum of Art.

GET CREATIVE: Class sizes are limited to 15 students and taught by experienced teaching artists. Subject matter is designed to help students build higher level thinking skills, with opportunities for students to analyze and make judgements in the field of visual arts. SLOMA aligns its youth art education curriculum to the California State Framework for the Visual and Performing Arts.
