Exhibition Proposal Guidelines
Artists and guest curators interested in submitting an exhibition proposal, please follow the guidelines below:
All media are acceptable. Proposals may be for a one-person or group exhibition (which may be juried, curated or invitational). The Museum of Art is particularly interested in contemporary California artists. The exhibition must have a concept that is current and relevant. All works accepted and exhibited must remain on display for the full duration of the exhibit. Works may or may not be for sale.
A committee will oversee the screening of proposals. The criteria for judging will focus on the degree of technical skill, aesthetic qualities and alignment with the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art’s mission.
Proposals should be submitted on DVD or CD. Include complete contact information, CV/résumé, exhibition history (if relevant), curatorial statement with a description of the exhibit and explanation of the idea in 500 words or less, 20 images of the artwork as JPGs at 300 dpi labeled by title, size and medium.
Your proposal will not be returned unless you provide a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Send to:
